Not the wife of Benjamin Bass, Sr., of Granville County
Martha (or Sarah) Hicks, daughter of Robert Hicks and Mary Courtney, married 1760 in Brunswick VA to Benjamin Bass (son of James Bass and Mary Lanier). He was born 1735 in Sussex., Co. VA or NC, and died February 20, 1798 in Brunswick Co., VA.

In Thomas Bass's will of 1786, he names:
From a transcription of his will, the following are probably the daughters and sons-in-law of Robert Hicks (1782):
"...Paul Tatum, Mary Hicks, Tabitha Hicks, James Vaughan, James Bruce and Lewis Peebles, and lastly I constitute and appoint my son-in-law Paul Tatum my whole and sole executor...
son Nathan and son-in-law Benjamin Bass are also named in the will.
Which daughter was married to Tatum, Vaughan, Bruce, Peebles, and Bass is not stated in the will.
