Mehitable Gunn married David Ensign, by whom she was cruelly treated. From this situation she was rescued by Isaac Sheldon in a dramatic manner. Subsequently she secured a divorce and married Isaac, by whom she had an only son, Johnathan, born when his father was about 60 years old.
The daughter of Thomas Gunn, she married (1) David Ensign on Oct. 22, 1663 and they were divorced in October, 1682. She married (2) Isaac Sheldon (his second wife).
