About Michael O'Donoghue

Writer, Comedian. O'Donoghue, known as "Mr. Mike," was a writer for Saturday Night Live off and on from the show's beginning in 1975 until the mid 1980's. He appeared in the show's very first sketch with John Belushi. He was best known on SNL for his recurring skit "Mr. Mike's Least-Loved Bedtime Tales," his dark and disturbing parodies of children's stories, and his impressions of various celebrities having steel needles driven into their eyes. He also wrote the screen play for the film Scrooged and contributed material to Gilda Radner's 1980 Broadway show, Gilda Live. He also played bit parts in movies such as Manhattan and Wall Street. A life-long sufferer of migraine headaches, O'Donoghue died of a cerebral hemorrhage. His ashes were scattered off the coast of Ireland, where he owned a home.
