About Philip Geissinger
Philip Geissinger was born 22 June 1701 in Palatinate, Germany. He emigrated to Pennsylvania on the "William and Sarah", arriving 18 SEP 1727. He was naturalized in 1731 and settled in Upper Saucon Township. Philip and Anna Maria were married about 1730. Together they were the parents of 11 children: Philip, Jacob, Anna, Henry, John, Daniel, Samuel, Elizabeth, David and Barbara. Their son David died young and the rest of their children grew to adulthood. Under the Security Act of 1778, 3 of their sons' families had all of their livestock, grain, farm equipment, and household belongings seized and auctioned by the army because it was against their Mennonite religion to take the oath of Allegiance. Philip's wife Anna Maria died the following Spring. Philip died in 1791 and was buried with his wife in the Saucon Mennonite Church Cemetery.
