brief biography and family

From an unidentified source:

Rokeby, Ralph (c.1548/9–1595), lawyer, was a member of the family of Rokeby of Mortham in the North Riding of Yorkshire, being the second son of Ralph Rokeby (d. 1556), later of Skier's Hall in the West Riding parish of Nether Hoyland, and Dorothy Danby. Deputy Secretary Rokeby died probably at York and was buried there at St Michael-le-Belfrey on 12 March 1595

From Oxford DNB:

Like his father and his uncle John Rokeby, the eminent canonist, Ralph Rokeby the younger was a lawyer by training. He matriculated at Queens' College, Cambridge, in 1562 (at the same time as his elder brother) and subsequently became a member of Lincoln's Inn in 1567. A great deal of the family details of Ralph's life comes from his own compilation, the Oeconomia Rokebiorum (first written in 1565 and revised in 1593).

From this it is known that Ralph was briefly married to Douglas, the daughter of William Ferne of Temple Belwood, Doncaster; she died in 1586 after only a year of marriage.

He then married Joan, daughter of John Portington, esquire, of Portington, who outlived him. He had two daughters with Joan: Rosamund (Rosse), baptized at the church of St Michael-le-Belfrey, York, in 1592, who died without issue; and Anne, baptized in 1593, who married in 1614, as his second wife, Sir John Hotham of Scorborough, first baronet.
