

"Knights of Edward I," Publications of the Harleian Society, Vol. 83 (1931), pp. 272-74, lists the Stafford Knights. Baron Robert was summoned to serve against the Welsh in 1277 & 1282, and to the Council at Gloucester, July 15, 1287 - so was Living in 1287. Date of death has been conflictingly reported as circa June 4, 1261, and as 1282.
Fn * — "Raufe [de Stafford] the sonne of Edmund, the son' of Nycholas, the sonne of Roberte, Baron of Stafford, that married Alice, the eldeste of S[ir] Tho. Cobett of Caus; wh[ich] Raufe was the first Earl of Stafford, and had in partition of the Barony of Caus the Castell and demaynes, the manner of Nether Gother, the moyety of the manner of Woorthin and the parke, part of the chase of the forest of Caus, with dyvers other landes, and dyvers knights' fees by partition, the 21st of Kinge Ed. 3. (Hatherton MS.)"
