Alessio Ruffatti believed that Jeronimo Bassano was actually a 'Piva' who originated from Crespano del Grappa

He discovered a lease of land from a monastery with a Zanantonio Piva, and father Bapltista Piva in 1481.

…. a natural connection with the Piva family due to the musical instruments it is more likely Jeronimo de Bassan married a Piva - hence the family joining forces in musical instrument manufacturing.

The fact remains that the Judean de Bassan's did originate from Spain.
