Biography
Sarah Vose, daughter of Edward Vose and Abigail Sharp, was born at Milton, Massachusetts 30 Aug 1684 and baptized at Milton 9 Sep 1684. She died in North Stonington, Connecticut 25 Dec 1758, and was buried 5 Jan 1759 on the family farm, before her body was moved to Pendleton Hill Cemetery, Stonington, New London, Connecticut.
Sarah was married in Milton, Massachusetts, 12 Jun 1706, by Mr. Peter Thatcher, pastor to James Babcock Jr., son of Capt. James Babcock and Elizabeth. He was was born at Westerly, Rhode Island 23 Dec 1688, and died at Stonington, now North Stonington, Connecticut, 9 Apr 1731.
James and Sarah, settled on a farm in Stonington owned by his father, Capt. James Babcock. Much of the land was retained in the family for more than a hundred and fifty years. James and Sarah joined Stonington Church (Congregational), Rev. James Noyes, pastor, 8 Aug 1708, and left with others to form the North Stonington Church in 1727.
James Babcock died at the age of 43, and was buried on the farm. Later his widow, Sarah, children and grandchildren were buried near him. In the fall of 1900, the graves of James and his wife, their sons Oliver and Timothy, and their wives were removed to a cemetery near the Pendleton Hill meetinghouse, which was about a half mile from the original burying ground.

After the death of James she married as his second wife, Samuel Chase, son of Jacob and Mary (Hall) Chase, on 31 Dec 1730 - their children were Samuel II, Jacob, Phebe, Benjamin and David Chase
