Origin

Thomas was born in 1645 in England, or possibly at Weymouth, Suffolk (later Norfolk) County, Massachusets. He was the fourth child of William Reade and Avis Chapman.[2] The family originated at Long Sutton, Somersetshire, England, but their eldest was the only child recorded in that parish.[2] After that, the whereabouts of the family is not known, until they appear at Weymouth, Massachusetts in about 1650. Hannah's father, William, was made a freeman at Weymouth on 18 May 1653.[3]

Family

Thomas married in 1670 at Weymouth, Suffolk (later Norfolk) County, Massachusetts to Sarah Bicknell,[4] the daughter of John Bicknell and his wife Mary Shaw.[5]

King Phillip's War

Thomas served between February and May, 1676, as a Private, under Lieutenant Gillam and Major Savage in King Phillip's war.[4]

Offices

Thomas served as fence viewer, constable, hay warden, selectman, 1691 and 1693, tithing-man, 1695, and on a committee to repair the meeting house in 1682.[4]

Death and Legacy

Thomas write his will on 27 October 1719, and it was proved on on 30 November 1719 at Suffolk County, Massachusetts.[5]

Thomas died 14 November, 1719 at Weymouth, Suffolk (later Norfolk) County, Massachusetts.[4] Sarah (Bicknell) Reed had died just three months earlier, 21 August 1719 at Weymouth.[5][6]

Thomas Reed, son of William and Avis (Deacon) "Reade" was born in 1645 at Weymouth, Norfolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony. [7]

He married Sarah Bicknell, daughter of John and Mary Shaw Bicknell. She was born about 1651 and died in Weymouth, Massachusetts on August 21, 1719. [7]

They lived in Weymouth, where Thomas held various town offices, included Fence Viewer, Constable, Selectman and Way Warden.[7]

Thomas was a private in Lieut. Gillam's company in King Philip's War. He was under the command of Major Savage Feb to May 1675-76. [7]

Thomas died Nov 14, 1719. [7]
