Sir Joceramus de Hellesby b. Abt 1152; in Helsby, Cheshire England. He was the patriarch of the Helsbys of Helsby. His descendants would branch off in the following generations, taking the titles of other lands becoming the de Acton family line.
The manor of Acton, which descended from Sir Jocelyne de Hellesby, was held by a feudal or military service from the Abbey of Vale Royal in Delamere Forest,
Joceramus was a "A soldier of the cross" Fighting in the third Crusade,In the service of Richard Coeur de Lion, It was at this time he was knighted. He was High Sheriff and "Serjeant of the Peace" in Cheshire.
He was married to Agatha, daughter of Sir Hamon Massey, Baron of Dunham Massey.
The heir of Sir Joceramus was Sir John de Hellesby, Domominus de Hellesby, who married Leuca Ardan.
Joceramus had another son, Lord Adam de Hellesby, Dominus de Actone, who married Emme, daughter and heiress of Robert, Lord of Frodsham.

Sir Joserame de Dellesby, knight & lord of Hellesby was living during the reign of Henry II. He was Sheriff of Cheshire sometime during the reign of John. He is mentioned in Coucher Book of Whalley Abbey. He was a Crusader, and died sometime about 1232. He married Agatha, daughter of Hamon de Masci, baron of Dunham-Massey.
The Children of Sir Joscerame and Agatha, according to Ormerod were:
• Sir John de Hellesby, knight, son of Joceralin', lord of Hellesby, knight, and heir to his brother Adam. He is Identical John le Sarjaunt, and first known bearer of the Arms of Hellesby. Sir John married Leuca, daughter a Arden or a Mobberley.
• Adam de Hellesby, eldest son and heir of Hellesby, and died without male heir, sometime around 1247. He gave lands in Acton and Hellesby to Ranulph, his nephew.
