About Sir Laurence Whistler

Whistler, Sir (Alan Charles) Laurence (1912-2000), glass engraver, writer, and architectural historian, was born at Bryer, Court Road, Eltham, Kent, on 21 January 1912, the youngest child of Henry Whistler (1866-1940), builder and estate agent, and his wife, Helen Frances Mary (1870-1963), daughter of the Revd Charles Slegg Ward.
