About Sir Nicholas de Hastings, Sr.
Nicholas De HASTINGS (Sir)
Died: 1268
Father: Thomas De HASTINGS
Mother: Amicia ?
Married: Emmeline ?
Children:
1. Alice De HASTINGS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blomefield says Nicholas de Hastyngs, Knt. had the manor of Gissing in Norfolk:
which, in 1246, he assigned to Amicia his mother, as part of her dower, she being then married to Sir Robert de Bosco of Fersfield, Knt. In 1269, he renewed his charter of free-warren; he married Emelina, daughter of Walter Heron, by whom he had six sons, Hugh, Henry, Edmund, Nicholas, Richard, and William; he died in 1285, leaving Gissing to Emeline his wife, for life, as her dower.[1]
VCH for Allerston, Yorkshire (Alverstone in old documents):
Nicholas received Allerston, (Whitby Chartul. (Surt. Soc.), 269.) settled dower on Amice widow of Thomas de Hastings in 1247, (Harl. MS. 3881, fol. 2.) and seems by 1268 to have succeeded his brother Thomas at Crosby Ravensworth also. (Whitby Chartul. (Surt. Soc.), 270.) Nicholas was lord of Allerston in 1279, (Plac. de Quo Warr. (Rec. Com.), 188.) but had been succeeded by his son (Harl. MS. 3881, fol. 2.) Hugh by 1284–5. (Kirkby's Inq. (Surt. Soc.), 147.)"[2]
