Sir William de la Haye, 1st Lord Hay was the son of Sir Thomas de la Haye, 7th of Erroll and Elizabeth Stewart.[1]
He married Margaret Gray, daughter of Sir Patrick Gray.[1]
He died in 1437.[2]
He was invested as a Knight.[1]
He was Commissioner to treat for the ransom of King James I in 1423.[2]
He held the office of Joint Lord Warden of the Marches in 1430.[2]
He was created 1st Lord Hay [Scotland] before March 1429/30, following an Act of 1428 drawing a distinction between Lords of Parliament and the ordinary lairds in the Scots baronage.[2]
