Urbain migrated to Canada as a young man probably in the year 1644. He arrived in Trois-Riviers. Beaudry lived next door to Gaspard Boucher, another relative in this genealogy. In 1647 these neighbors executed a marriage contract granting the hand of Madeleine Boucher to Urbain. As Madeleine was only 12 years old the marriage did not occur for a few years. Madeleine was born on the high seas while her parents were crossing the Atlantic in 1635. Madeleine was to bring to the marriage a dowery of 200 livres, four sheets, two tablecloths, and six napkins, all in hemp. She also was to have a mattress, a blanket, two platters, six bowls and six tin plates. There was to be a pot and a boiler, a table, a bread bin, a chest with a key, a cow, two pigs, and a linen of her choice. A suit was to be provided for Urbain, according to his rank.
Urbain and Madeleine had eleven children born over thirty years. He farmed, cleared land, and was a blacksmith who made tools. They had a plot of land 30 toises long and fifteen wide below the fort in Trois-Rivieres. They built their home, a stable, and a forge on this land, and had room for a garden.
Although they lived most of their married life in Trois-Rivieres, they moved away twice, only to return. In 1652 they went to live on the Beaupre coast between the homes of Toussant Toupin and Jean Plante. They returned to Trois-Rivieres in 1658 where they were living at the time of the 1666 census. When the government repeated the census in 1667, they were living across the river in Petit Cap-de-la-Madeleine. In the early 1670's brother-in-law Pierre Boucher induced them to move to Boucherville near Montreal. A few years later they were back in Trois-Rivieres.
They were living in Trois Rivieres at the time of the 1681 census. Eight of their children were still at home. In 1682 the curate Bruslan buried Urbain Beaudry beneath the floor of the church. In 1691 they buried Madeleine next to her husband.
