Biography
"Gin/Ginna" McClendon was born on February 26, 1924 in Lynn, Lawrence County, Arkansas, United States. Her parents were George Folsom Goodwin, Sr and Malissa Mae Goodwin. After graduation as an honor student from San Diego High School, she went on the business school as she paid her way by being a Rosie Rivitor for Consolitated Vultee Aircraft Coorporation. She was a Business Owner of 17 various businesses, Hospitality Industry mostly; but did have a variety of businesses. She employed many in and out of the family. See in the media section the Southside Shopping Plaza as it was called, then bought and called Redneck. It was Jiffy Stop during the tenure of Ginna's management of it. The McClendon Motel was the only motel in the town of Poplarville for years. Trained as a realtor in San Diego, leaving that and moving to Whitesand was when the eldest was 8 years old was a construction flip of a dream home flipped for a highly industrial life where the Who's Who Among Business Women in Mississippi was one recognition that came in the late 70's; but, the dream of being voted as the first woman on the Board of Alderman was not realized as the locals were not yet ready for a woman on the Board, as they expressed in a survey. The greatest loss expressed was that of loosing a small son to polio. Spoken as to her greatest pride was that her daughters all were in service professions.
Clare married Paul Lavon McClendon. Together they had the following children: Renee Morris; Eugene McClendon; Rhynda Eaton; Rhonda Brubaker; Rachelle Roby, Cheraw Nation Historian.
She died on September 7, 1987 in Hattiesburg, Forrest County, Mississippi, United States ( Ovarian Cancer from BRCA 25 Sephardim Mutation ) and was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Poplarville, Pearl River County, Mississippi, United States.

Virginia was the daughter of George Folsom Goodwin and Malissa Mae Epperson Goodwin. She was the wife of Paul Lavon McClendon and they had five children. Virginia owned and operated 17 businesses in the 70's in Poplarville, MS while raising the children and caring for her aged mother. Virginia descends from five Mayflower passengers. She told her daughters, "We descend from pioneers." She was a Christian and prayed her family would be also.
