Waitstill Green, daughter of Joseph Green, was born at Stamford November 26, 1685.[1]

Waitstill Green and David Waterbury married April 10, 1707, at Stamford, Connecticut.[2] Waitstill and David had the following children:[3]

  1. David, born at the end of 1707 or beginning of 1708; married December 22, 1730, Mary Bouton, born about 1709, daughter of John and Mercy (Hickok) Bouton; probably is the David who died by March 17, 1760, at New York.
  2. Mary, probably born at the end of 1709 or early 1710; married October 7, 1726, David Hoyt. She is not certain to be David's daughter, but "we can find no place for Mary in the family, unless she was the dau. of David, and she named her first child David".

Waitstill Waterbury [nee Green] married second Stephen Bishop, June 4, 1713, at Stamford, Connecticut. Their known children were:[4]

  1. Zubah, born July 13, 1714
  2. Joseph, born August 13, 17__
  3. Stephen, born October 16, 1716; died July 23, 1731. A different source states that Stephen married December 27, 1744 Sarah Slawson, daughter of James and Mehitable (Ambler) Slawson; Sarah was born March 31, 1713-14. This article gives Stephen's death as May 16, 1791, at North Stamford, Connecticut. [5] Another source also reports the same information about his wife Sarah Slason.[6] Sarah Slawson's profile appears to be Sarah (Slason) Bishop (1714-1814)
  4. Elizabeth, born May 18, 1722

Stephen Bishop (likely, but not certainly, her spouse to be) was appointed in 1710 to oversee the distribution of her father, Joseph Green's estate.[7]

Waitstill died July 5, 1730.[4]

Origins

Elizabeth was the widow of Joseph Green of Stamford. Her inventory was taken on 2 November 1721 at Stamford and recorded at Fairfield. Nathaniel Green was the administrator of the estate and gave an oath that it was a true inventory. The account of the estate had assets to distribute, and it was ordered to distribute to the five children, Joseph, John, Nathaniel, Waitstill, and Mercy Green.
