About the Lackey surname

Most people with the last name Lackey believe that their Lackey ancestors are from Ireland, and apparently many Lackeys do have ancestors from Ireland. However, Lackey was also the name taken by a family that immigrated to America from Bohemia (Now Czech Republic area). Matthias Lackey, his son Chauncy and his daughter Barbara immigrated together and settled in Seneca, Nebraska. It's not clear to me what their original name was before it was altered to Lackey. I've only heard family members guess about it. Lechky? Lesky? Lasky? The reason I think it's important to mention the Bohemian heritage of the name is because Chauncy Lackey and Mary Cook had many children, 13? who survived, and during the baby boom, many great-grand children in the US. So, there are probably thousands of people named Lackey who think the name lends them Irish heritage when actually the name might be Czech or Bohemian in their family.
