I have a problem with Filae family trees used as a source. They are not a true source, and they create numerous false inconsistency flags. The inconsistencies usually involve either an iincomplete date (year vs montth/day/year) or incomplete location (state vs city/county/state). The conflicts are easily resolved when there only a few. Recently I have encounterd profile with hundreds of inconsistencies. Is there is an easy way to deal with this volume. Can sources be deleted?

In general, all information attached to a profile can be removed, and that includes sources of course. But if you do that for profiles of which you are not a manager, or pieces of information that you did not add yourself, you need to be very careful.

I do not understand, however, why you started this discussion in "Portaal voor Nederlandstaligen". Filae (now also a MyHeritage subsidiary like Geni) is predominantly French, and I have not encountered it at all in Geni until now. So I don't see how this is relevant for Dutch speaking users.

Ard,

Many Dutch decendents from hugenoten will disagree with you, also in the Napoleon time a fair number of french stayed in Nederland

Another Huegenot descendant here - Filae is a useful inspriation for many French links in Zeeuws Vlaanderen in particular. But as always, it is not a true source like a birth or baptism record. Still, those are also often less precise than they might seem at first sight. So i suggest we live with it.

I do agree that filiae sources should be seen as regular smartmatches (myheritage terminology) and not as record matches. They are just family trees in a similar system as geni / my heritage, why upgrade them to something they are not? I just ignore most of them or treat them as any regular matching tree.

As if it wasn’t enough we have a new “add on” that I found 15 minutes ago. Source Assistant. I receive an email with the following message.
Geni's Source Assistant found new information in 1 match you recently confirmed. Investigating Record Match and Smart Match™ discoveries may add new or updated information to the profiles you manage.
The problem is that I did not confirmed anything recently. On the contrary I realised the names are indeed similar, and relatives but from different generations more rece

recent, someone else confirmed and my tree automatically assumed the error as when i open the link showed as confirmed. Now I have to go back an change all the dates back to the original.
