So what will happen if... How do I do this?

There are two profiles of the same person that should be merged.

The first I created as part of a branch build that turned into the duplicate, but it is much better researched, documented, and presented, so it should be the profile merged into Jeanne Robidoux

The original here Fille du Roi Jeanne Denote, Filles du Roi to have been prepared in the early days of 2007. It does now have a curator and a management team, but the research is very weak. You will note a VERY IMPORTANT feature. If you click on the photo (which is an extraction of a much larger image and flipped), you will see that the photo was used in a very large number of profiles. This image seems to tie together those 800+/- ladies known as the King's Daughters, see: https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/filles-du-roi.

BUT these profiles are NOT part of a project, although there is one titled the Kings Daughters, which shares project date in a different way than today's project does by adding a profile to the project. This appears to me to be an original attempt at creating a Project!

Yesterday I found a project titled Kings Daughters, today I cannot? Many of the names of the ladies attached to the image are now managed by Customer Service, which says to me that over time, managers and curators have abandoned, for whatever reason, the profiles.

And there are other duplicates with name variations that do not show up as matches, less developed, that should also be merged.

1. I do not want to take the time to create a new Project, open all of the individual profiles attached to the image, and attach them to the new Project, but I will if that's the last or only option to save the profiles (and this reconfigure will have to be done before any merge to insure nothing is lost). I think that someone put in a great deal of time and effort to link these women together, which should not be lost, although it may not be following today's functionality.
2. I do want to merge the two profiles for Jeanne, but do not want to loose the image as part of the merge, so how do I insure that does happen the way I want. (This action will impact only one of the ~800 profiles that should, in my mind, be in a project.)

Private User Here is the King's Daughter's project. https://www.geni.com/projects/King-s-Daughters/13635

Any data attached to both profiles is preserved following a merge, so that you don't have to worry about losing information through a merge.

For the images, though, I am unsure about using that image to represent profiles in the project. When I look at the profile, I assume that it is a painting of the specific individual, rather than a generic identifier for a project.

For similar projects, such as the Daughters of the American Revolution, we use

I would propose that something along these lines would be more appropriate for the King's Daughters project.

Thank you Tamás,
I am relieved to know that merging will not cause a loss of data.

I agree with you regarding the image. The image used was cut from this original: www.geni.com/media/proxy?media_id=6000000218160351848&size=large and flipped horizontally for reasons unknown, and there are other images available, and I agree it is not reflective of the whole. If one does a mouse over the image used it returns Anne Phillipe, who was herself a Daughter of the King, but only 1 of over 800.

So I thin my plan is:
1) I cant afford the loss of my bandwidth to tackle this now so it goes on my to do list
2) when I get to it I will either create or if I can find an existing project modify it, to build a Project that accurately reflects the event.
3) Go back to the image file and one by one open the link to the person and save it to the project, and if it does not have a husband attached, I can add that because the resource I've found has a list of all ladies with their husbands.
4) If I have to do something about the photo at that time I can since each of the 800 or so profiles will have to be opened to add the project. Some of the profiles involved already do NOT use the currently recommended photo. Have not yet decided what might be appropriate.

This is a pretty nicely done generic AI created image I found on the site I use as the primary source, it also contains a list of women and their husbands

The site also addresses the Carignan-Salières Regiment Officers and Soldiers
who married Filles du Roi

But I do not find any symbols although there is a modern day society...

Thank you Tamás,

Everything has come together, I was for some reason not able to find the project until you provided the link, but it is as it should be. The project is much further developed than I thought. I joined the project and was then able to connect the profile I created to it.

I'm not going to do anything to it except merge the two profiles that are now dups, but both project are part of the project now so that should work out also. I might try to work some of what I have found into the project narrative...

No everyone uses the image that was recommended, and even though it is probably not the best there is something to be said for making them all the same, so I might do that
