About Roger de Grey, 1st Baron Grey de Ruthyn
Family
Elizabeth de Hastings was a daughter of Sir John de Hastings, 1st Baron Hastings, by his 1st wife Isabel de Valence.
She married Sir Roger de Grey, a younger son of the 2nd Lord Grey of Wilton. Her husband had a goodly chunk of the family property settled on him, including Ruthin Castle, and became the 1st Lord Grey of Ruthin.
They had 2 sons
- Sir John (dvp)
- Sir Reynold, who succeeded and 4 daughters
- Julian, wife of Sir John Talbot, of Richard's Castle
- Mary, wife of Sir John de Burgh
- Joan, wife of Sir William de Patshull
- Maud, wife of William de la Roche
- Many good sources show another daughter, Elizabeth, wife of Sir Philip Okeover, though this seems not to be uncontroversial.

From "Katherine Talbot, wife of Ralph Parles, and her daughter, Margery Parles, wife of John Hervey and William Argentine" - message posted May 2008 - Douglas Richardson writes:
.... Thus, it would appear that Ralph Parles first wife was Katherine Talbot, not Joan Talbot, she being a daughter of John Talbot, Knt., of Richard's Castle, Herefordshire, by his wife, Juliane, daughter of Roger de Grey, Knt., 1st Lord Grey of Ruthin. Katherine Talbot's mother's descent from Geoffrey Plantagenet can be found in my book, Plantagenet Ancestry (2004).
Ralph Parles, Esq., and his wife, Katherine Talbot, had one daughter, Margery Parles, who married (1st) John Hervey, Esq., of Thurleigh, Bedfordshire, and (2nd) William Argentine, Knt., of Halesworth, Suffolk and Great Wymondley, Hertfordshire. Margery Parles had four known children by her Hervey marriage, but none by her Argentine marriage. There are many modern descendants of the Hervey marriage. ...
Roger was 1st Baron Grey de Ruthyn.
He was summoned to Parliament in 1324, and spent much of his life engaged in warfare.
