Biographical Summary
"(82) Sir James Douglas of Cavers, died 28th September 1545. Married, 1537, Elizabeth, daughter of John Murray of Fala Hill, and had three sons : —
- Sir James (No. 83).
- William Douglas of Friarshaw, security for his brother James in 1545 (Acts 0/ Parliament). (See No. 97.)
- Robert Douglas, married Helen, daughter and heiress of Douglas of Todhoillis or Todalia, and had a son :
- James of Todhoillis, living 1584 (Acts of Parliament).

When Sir James Douglas 5th of Cavers was born about 1496, in Roxburghshire, Scotland, his father, Sir William Douglas 4th of Cavers, was 48 and his mother, Mrs William Douglas, was 23. He married Elizabeth Murray of Falahill in 1537, in Eddleston, Peeblesshire, Scotland, United Kingdom. They were the parents of at least 3 sons. He died on 28 September 1545, at the age of 50.
